LS 3011 - Knowledge, Evidence, and Data in the Liberal Arts (3) Explores what constitutes knowledge and knowing to develop a critical and/or interdisciplinary perspective across the arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. Focuses on the intersection of epistemological frameworks (ways of knowing), the research process, and different types of data and evidence that create knowledge. Lectures, discussion, and activities used to practice various interdisciplinary research skills and to implement data tools to examine, analyze, and propose solutions to community-based issues. Practice in interdisciplinary thinking by engaging with issues of misinformation and disinformation to develop critical thinking. Culmination involves a case study that demonstrates ability to engage in praxis (theory to action). Exploration of basic research and data/evidence interpretation approaches that revisits and deepens in later courses in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
